His commitment to public safety is delivering results: car thefts have been reduced by 52%, robberies are down 38%, homicides are down 58%, and overall crime has decreased by 11%. With new technology, upgraded equipment, and additional police resources, Federal Way is better equipped than ever to prevent crime before it happens – all without raising taxes.
Mayor Jim Ferrell has made economic growth and job creation a top priority, attracting major employers like Pape Kenworth, Smith Brothers Dairy, All City Fence, Amazon, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. While bringing in new businesses, he has also worked to support long-standing companies that are the backbone of our community. His leadership is creating jobs, strengthening businesses, and building a foundation for long-term growth.
Mayor Jim Ferrell has led Federal Way with responsible budgeting and smart financial practices, ensuring balanced budgets, fully funded reserves, and strong city services. Through strategic investments, the city has generated $8.5 million in additional revenue, covering new police officers, upgraded equipment, and infrastructure improvements. His leadership is building a stable financial future while keeping Federal Way affordable.
From well-maintained parks and smooth roads to a thriving downtown, Mayor Jim Ferrell is committed to making Federal Way a great place to live, work, and visit. He has championed efforts to keep the city clean, removing graffiti within 24 hours and launching Eyes on Federal Way, an app that has cleared over 2,000 abandoned shopping carts per year. With 20 acres of downtown set for redevelopment, Federal Way is becoming a true destination city.
